Benq MOBIUZ offers entry and mid-range gaming monitors with its new lineup

Zowie a little too pricey? There's MOBIUZ for the rest of us.

So it seems like the pandemic has turned more people to gaming, BenQ says as much that the MOBIUZ 2021 lineup is an upshot of this.

Kind of like a crossover range, the MOBIUZ is pretty much targeted at new gamers who are looking at switching out their monitor for something that works a little better in a gaming context, but not for too much more money. BenQ’s new monitors are built around two new features: intelligent HDRi technology and audio-immersive treVolo speakers.

HDRi involves the use of a discrete light sensor that actively detects ambient light levels, and uses that information to enhance on-screen images with HDR. BenQ offers Cinema HDRi and Game HDRi, as video games will need a little more brightness for dark elements for practical reasons. BenQ says that it’s able to reveal subtle shades in dark regions while preventing overexposure in brighter areas while delivering “stunning” colour intensity, balance, and saturation. HDRi can also emulate HDR for standard content, and BenQ claims that they can get quite close to standard HDR performance this way.

From the looks of it, the most useful features are the Light Tuner and Black eQualizer, two tweaks that help to brighten dark corners and shadows. Light Tuner targets areas that should be bright but are too dark, while Black eQualizer targets areas that should be dark but are overly darkened.

The built-in speakers were designed by BenQ’s treVolo audio team, who worked on harmonising resolution, positioning, sound field, balance and fidelity. Tone settings range from crisp to sweet treble, clear to smooth midrange, and full to warm bass. Models with a 2.1-style system actually have the woofer built into the monitor.

BenQ’s range of MOBIUZ gaming monitors is now available exclusively at the BenQ Store on Lazada and Shopee .
