Good news if you’re on StarHub – you’ll be the first in South East Asia with the chance to try out the NVIDIA GeForce NOW cloud gaming service.
Offically titled GeForce NOW Powered by StarHub, NVIDIA’s version of Google Stadia lets you play even technically demanding games even if you don’t have the hardware for it.
What this means is that you have access to a library of over 800 game titles that you can play anywhere so long as you have a web browser – mobile phones, tablets, desktops, laptops; you name it.
GeForce NOW Powered by StarHub incorporates StarHub’s 5G and fibre broadband with NVIDIA RTX servers to handle all game processing in the cloud and stream the gameplay to users. These gaming servers are apparently able to deliver even real-time ray tracing effects, with a smooth 1080p, 60FPS experience across most devices, though I’d imagine your device can’t be too ancient as well, since it’s a bit like watching high resolution video.
GeForce Now releases games every week, but the draw, no doubt, would be the ability to link your Steam or Epic Games accounts to add the titles that you already own, so you can, in theory, play them across any device.
The service will launch in the third quarter of 2021, with monthly and yearly subscription plans in the works for new and existing subscribers.
