Samsung is introducing a host of incentives to help people who are on the fence about its flip phones – more specifically, the Galaxy Z Flip3 5G.
For all of the hype that the flip phones generate, it is a big ask to get people to buy into it as an everyday phone, as especially when it doesn’t cost chump change. On the flip side, Samsung is cognizant of this fact – to their credit – and has always been dropping incentives in order to nudge those who are on the brink to make the plunge.
Firstly, you can sign up to get a free 7-day trial, at no charge and obligations, just to see if it works for you in real life. To be fair, this is usually the biggest obstruction for people thinking about a folding phone. If you buy one and it breaks, the smart money is that your friends will be wearing that “I told you so” look on their faces. So I guess the goal is to have enough people own them so that you reach herd immunity of culpability – I think all you need is 40 per cent.
To kick things off, simply book the Galaxy Free Trial here and choose your appointment date. You can also decide which Samsung Experience Store or telco store to pick up the phone. The trial will last seven days and during that period, you will be afforded 24/7 live support via the Samsung Members app, so you can understand the phone inside out and address all of your misgivings if any. And at the end of the trial, return your device to the same store and if you are interested to buy, you can get a $100 discount when you purchase the Flip3 5G from any Samsung Experience Store. You can learn more about the programme here .
Samsung also offers a Trade Up Programme to reduce another barrier – getting rid of your old phone and lowering the out of pocket cost. The Flip3 5G is one of several phones that you can trade up to under the programme, and you can receive an additional $100 in trade-in value on top of the regular trade-in amount. According to Samsung, this can be up to $1,270 (at time of writing anyway) if you were to trade in a 512GB Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max.
And for iPhone users who are afraid to go Android for fear of losing their WhatsApp chats, Samsung’s Smart Switch is currently the only officially-supported tool that allows migration from iOS to Android. With Smart Switch you can port content such as photos, videos, contacts, calendar events, notes, etc via a wired connection. More details here .
