Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Tsushima was an undisputed hit both critically and commercially, following its launch last year.
Its premise seemed to struck a chord with gamers, so much so that fans responded to a crowdfund to restore a collapsed Torii gate at the island’s Watatsumi Shrine .
So it’s probably fitting that it now gets its own movie. Sucker Punch Productions Game Director Nate Fox recently dropped the news that the company will be partnering with Sony Pictures on the Ghost of Tsushima movie.
The franchise is doing very well indeed, having sold over 6.5 million copies. What’s more, Fox, along with Creative Director Jason Connell, have been appointed permanent tourism ambassadors for the island.
The film director for the project is a big win as well, on paper at least. John Wick director Chad Stahelski is on board to bring Jin Sakai’s story to life, which means we can expect the movie to deliver some breathtaking action sequences.
